South Asian food confce begins in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, July 9 (Xinhua): The South Asian Regional Conference on Food Sovereignty, Agrarian Reforms and Peasants' Rights began here Tuesday, The Rising Nepal daily reported Wednesday.

Participating in the conference are farmers, agro-scientists, researchers, environmentalists and representatives of organisations from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation region.

The conference will discuss on the state of land distribution in South Asia, land reform, agriculture development status and potentials, food rights and human rights, climate change, worldwide food crisis and energy crisis and adopt a Kathmandu Declaration.
