Soyabean-sugar selling outlet opens at Faridpur DC\\\'s office

FARIDPUR, July 15 (BSS): With the object of helping the poor consumers during the month of Ramadan, the Office of Faridpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) has opened an outlet this morning at its office premises to sell soybean oil and sugar at a subsidized rate.
DC of Faridpur Sardar Sarafat Ali inaugurated the outlet which will be conducted by the staff of DC office. Among others, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sirajul Haque Talukdar, Sadar Upazilla Parishad Chairman Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor, ADC (Gen) Md. Abdur Rashid and ADM Md. Khalilur Rahman were present on the occasion.
DC said the fasting Muslims belonging to poor and marginal classes, day labourers cannot purchase these two important commodities in this month from open market always. In view of their hardship this outlet was opened and will continue till the last day of Ramadhan, he added.
Upazilla Chairman Khondoker Babor said some local rich people who do not want to be identified will pay the required money for the subsidy to carry on with the programme.
Sugar is being sold at Taka 35.00 per kg which is Taka 49.00 in the open market while soybean is selling at Taka 100.00 which is Taka 125.00. Each person will be given one kg of sugar and one kg of soybean oil.
