Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Friday urged the members of Bangladesh Ain Samity (BAS) to play a more effective role to help implement the existing time-befitting laws so that people can be benefited through legal coverage. “Country’s development will be expedited if the rule of law is established,” she said while addressing as the chief guest the 28th annual conference of the BAS held at Dhaka University with its President AKM Afzalul Munir in the chair. Dr Shirin called upon the BAS members to work from their respective positions to strengthen democracy further through building a non-communal country. “I hope the Ain Samity will play an active role in ensuring the rule of law and justice for all.” Underscoring the need for the development of women, she said the socioeconomic development of the country will not be possible without proper empowerment of women as half of the country’s population is women. “Keep it in mind that women aren’t left from the development trend,” according to UNB.
