Speaker launches anti-drug campaign in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Apr 16 (BSS): Jatiya Sangshad Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP, called on Tuesday upon youths to strengthen anti-drug campaign aimed at building a healthy nation.
"The youths are the real social force who can bring positive change in every sphere of the society," she said while inaugurating an anti-drug campaign and distribution of tree saplings among students at her Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency on Tuesday.
The Speaker distributed tree saplings among secondary and higher secondary level students and planted a sapling on the Central Shaheed Minar premises.
Young generation must refrain from drug to take forward the nation to its desired goal, she said adding that drugs harm the young generations and everyone physically, socially, mentally and emotionally.
Later, the Speaker distributed prizes among winners of the book reading competitions. Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer TMA Momin presided over the meeting while Pirganj municipal Mayor Abu Saleh Md Tazimul Islam Shamim, Chairman of Pirganj upazila Noor Mohammad Mondal and vice-chairman Shafiur Rahman Mandal Milon were present among others.
