Speaker leaves for CPA HQs in London

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, also the Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association's (CPU) executive committee, left Dhaka for CPA Headquarters (HQs) in London on Tuesday evening. The CPA chairperson will perform her official work there for the first time. Besides, at the invitation of the World Health Organisation (WHO), she will take part in a 2-day programme ‘Stakeholder Meeting: Accountability for Women’s and Children's Health’ in the Swiss city of Geneva on Thursday. Chief Whip of Jatiya Sangsad (parliament) ASM firoz, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry Imran Ahmed, senior secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Md Ashraful Maqbul and other concerned high officials were present at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport to see her off, according to an official release.
