Speakers call for dialogue to break political impasse

Dialogue among political parties is a sine qua non to resolve the ongoing political stalemate, political analysts put this assertion at an event in Dhaka city on Monday.
People are passing through a difficult patch as main political rivals are yet to show signs of a compromise on elections to be held under a neutral administration.
Against this backdrop, the speakers called upon the political parties to sit in a constructive national dialogue for the betterment of the country.
They made the observations during the event styled 'National Dialogue to Promote a Political Settlement' hosted by The Hunger Project (THP) in collaboration with SHUJAN (Citizens for Good Governance).
Hunger Project global vice-president and country director Dr Badiul Alam Majumder moderated the dialogue, which was organised at CIRDAP.
Political scientist Dr Rounaq Jahan, Justice MA Matin, former cabinet secretary Ali Imam Majumder, lawmaker Nahim Razzaque, former BNP lawmaker advocate Harun-or-Rashid, Gonosanghati Andolon chief coordinator Junaid Saki, Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna and Communist Party of Bangladesh general secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, among others, spoke there.
