Speakers for better coordination to make village courts effective

GAIBANDHA, June 23 (BSS): Speakers at a function in the district recently laid emphasis on the need for better coordination among all concerned to make village courts more effective.
The village courts are becoming popular among people as they are getting justice after submitting their cases to the courts, they told at a consultation workshop on 'Expediting coordination and case referral to village courts,' at the conference room of district and sessions judge of the town.
Office of the district and sessions judge organised the workshop under Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh Project, phase-11 funded by Local Government Division, European Union and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
District and sessions judge Dilip Kumar Bhowmik presided over the workshop while deputy director of local government section of DC office here Rokhsana Begum, chief judicial magistrate Nushrat Jerin, additional district and sessions judge Golam Faruk and additional police super Moynul Haque addressed the function as the resource persons.
The function was also addressed, among others, by joint district and sessions judge-1 Rezaul Karim, joint district and sessions judge-2 Krishna Kanta Roy, additional chief judicial magistrate Nazrul Islam and Sadullapur UNO Nobi Neowaz.
