Special bacteria, 13000 cleaners cleaning Dhaka

The two city corporations of the capital – north and south – have got into the business of cleansing clotted blood and fluids of sacrificial animals and removing cow dung and other solid wastes. The Dhaka City Corporation north and south together have employed an army of 13,000 cleaners to get the mega city rid of animal fluids, solid wastes and special bacteria since Monday afternoon. This large number of cleaning staff will work round the clock for 48 hours. They are using additional waste carrying vehicles and antiseptic medicines. Apart from that, the two city corporations have started to distribute special poly bags at big residential complexes and spaces where cattle haats had been set up before Eid. Every year during the festival of Eid-ul-Azha, waste from sacrificed animals are piled up along the neighbourhood alleys in Dhaka. Overpowering stench of rotten waste and clotted blood hangs in the Dhaka air for a prolonged period. Every year the two DCC employ all its resources to keep Dhaka waste-free during the festive season, according to a news agency.
