Special court frames charges against 84 mutineers under Dhaka Sector HQs

Special Court-11, trying the alleged 84 BDR mutineers under Dhaka Sector Headquarters in connection with February 25-26 mutiny at BDR HQs at Pilkhana last year, framed charges against the accused Sunday, reports UNB.
After framing the charge, the court was adjourned until 10:00 am today (Monday).
Court sources said, the Special Court-11, set up at the Darbar Hall of the BDR Headquarters, began its proceedings at about 10:00 am when all of the accused were present on the dock.
Col Iftekhar Uddin Mahmud led the 3-member Special Court while two other members were Lt Col Md Shahadat Hossain and Major AKM Alamgir Hossain.
Attorney General's representative Deputy Attorney General Adv Mohammad Ullah Kislo assisted the court. Maj Md Taslim Uddin performed as Prosecutor.
The court continued until 1:30 pm after giving a short break.
Proceedings, trying 86 mutineers under Dhaka Sector Headquarters, started at the Special Court-5 on February 23 this year.
Later, the charges were brought against 84 BDR jawans as the remaining two went into hiding immediately after the Pilkhana bloodbath.
Earlier, government formed 6 special courts to try the BDR mutineers.
The government reformed 10 more courts to speed up the trials.
The newly reformed special courts started their proceedings through Sunday's proceedings of Special Court-11.
At least 73 people, including 57 army officers deputed to the border force, were killed at BDR Headquarters during the carnage on February 25-26, 2009.
