Special OMS for flood victims

The Food Ministry has made special arrangements for open market sale (OMS) of rice, wheat and flour in the 14 flood affected districts.
The floods have affected over 6.0 million people in the southeast region of the country. The OMS will be conducted for the next three months in the municipality and union levels.
The information was revealed at a press conference, organised by the Food Ministry, held at the Secretariat on Sunday.
Food secretary Islmail Hossain said the OMS will be operated from 230 centres. One tonne of rice and one tonne of flour will be distributed from each centres.
A total of 28,980 tonnes of rice and flour worth Tk 906 million will be distributed between September and November.
Rice will be provided at Tk 30, loose atta at Tk 24 and packet atta at 27.5 par kg.
Meanwhile, the regular OMS programme across the country is going on from 912 centres of which 118 in the capital city.
