FE Report
Leaders of Bangladesh Specialised Textile Mills and Powerloom Industries Association (BSTMPIA) Wednesday demanded of the government to withdraw all kinds of taxation on materials that are used for textile manufacturing in the country.
They made the demand at a view-exchanging meeting with Commerce Minster Lt Col (Retd) Faruk Khan at his secretariat office in the city.
The BSTMPIA leaders also placed a set of demands to strengthen the sector that is presently failing to cope with the international market because of not having adequate facilities.
The key demands are implementation of law to prohibit import of wastage fabrics and stock lot in the country, increase of investment in the sector and extension of taxation on commercial import of fabrics.
BSTMPIA President Abdul Tahid Majumder requested the minister to take necessary steps to modernise the potential sector and rehabilitate the sick industries.
