Spl court-5 fixes May 9 for framing charges

The special court-5, holding trial of 310 BDR rebels of the 36th battalion under Dhaka Sector, Tuesday fixed May 9 for framing charges against the accused in the BDR mutiny case, reports UNB.
The trial began at BDR Darbar Hall at Pilkhana in the city Monday.
The special court-5 resumed its proceedings at about 10:35 am Tuesday with BDR Director-General Maj Gen Mainul Islam in the chair.
Two other members of the court are: Lt Col Golam Rabbani and Maj Syed Hossain Tapas. Attorney General (AG)'s representative Deputy AG Mohammad Suhrawardy is giving legal assistance to the special court.
Of the accused, 309 were put on the dock while another stayed in an ambulance outside the court room due to his illness. As the court resumed, Prosecutor and Commanding officer of 36 Rifle Battalion Lt Col Tarik Imam Siddiki narrated the allegations against the accused.
He told the court that the accused have committed punishable offences under section 10A (1) of the Bangladesh Rifles Order, 1972. The prosecutor said he has sufficient number of witnesses as well as still pictures, video footages and other evidences to prove the offences committed by the accused persons.
