Spl fund for women, children, handicapped sought
FE Report | Wednesday, 30 April 2014
Health activists from the grassroots level at a workshop Monday demanded special allocation for women, children, handicapped and leprosy-affected people in the upcoming national budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2014-15.
They said the state-run health directorate needs special allocation to ensure health service through a sustainable management.
Apart from this, healthy maternity, HIV and leprosy treatment and information facilities should be ensured at the village level both in public and private health care, they said.
Health Alliance, a platform of four organisations working for health service in the marginal areas and The Leprosy Mission International Bangladesh (TLMIB), with support from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), organised the programme titled 'Workshop on national health service' held at the National Health Institute in the city.
Deputy director general of DGHS Dr Subhas Saha, Child Sight Foundation executive director Prof Mohammad Muhit, Christian Service Society director Dr David Khan, Woord en Daad coordinator for policy influencing Ms Judith van den Bogaard, Woord en Daad wash program officer Mr Jacob Jan Vreugdenhil, TLMIB country director Rev Matthew S Halder, among others, spoke on the occasion.
