Spontaneous response from new tax-payers

National Board of Revenue (NBR) received spontaneous response from the new tax-payers in Sitakundo upazila under Chittagong district last Thursday, where around 105 tax-payers paid tax under the government's motivational programme.
NBR Chairman Muhammad Abdul Mazid attended the programme in the Upazila as a part of ongoing campaign to invite self-motivated new tax-payers.
The NBR chairman received the tax return files of the tax-payers' at the programme held at the upazila auditorium of Sitakundo.
Talking to the FE, the NBR chairman said: "Under the motivational programme, we are emphasising the need for educating people on tax payment issues rather that collecting huge taxes."
He, however, said the volume of tax payment is not the main focus of the ongoing programme.
