SINGAPORE, July 31 (Xinhua): Singapore's jobless rate in the second quarter went up to 2.3 per cent after seasonal adjustments, compared to the previous quarter's 2 per cent, amid greater economic uncertainties, the government said today.

The booming construction industry created a record 22,100 jobs in the second quarter, compared to 14,500 in the first quarter, while services, which includes the key financial sector, added 37, 600 jobs in the three months ending June, slowing from the first quarter when 46,500 jobs were created.
