SINGAPORE, Nov 24 (Xinhua): The consumer price index in Singapore slowed to 0.1 per cent on-year in October, mainly on account of base effects associated with fluctuations in car Certificate of Entitlement premiums, as well as sharper declines in the costs of accommodation and oil-related items, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a joint statement on Monday.
Private road transport cost decreased by 5.6 per cent in October, following the 2.8 per cent fall in September, largely due to the high base a year ago.
Accommodation cost declined by 1.0 per cent, extending the 0.6 per cent correction in the previous month, as a result of the soft housing rental market.
Prices of oil-related items, including electricity tariffs and petrol pump prices, fell by 2.1 per cent in October.
