Sporting ties with BD must continue, says Indian envoy

India described Thursday the 'sporting ties' between Bangladesh and India as important saying these must continue, reports UNB.
"Sporting ties between the two countries are important. It serves a very useful purpose whether it is game of cricket, football or any other game," said Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pankaj Saran.
He said the sporting ties must continue because that is the spirit of the relationship between the two countries.
The Indian diplomat came up with the remark when a questioner wanted to know about the impact on bilateral relations following recent incidents over the match between India and Bangladesh and subsequent resignation of the ICC President.
ICC President Mustafa Kamal, who is also Bangladesh's Planning Minister, resigned with an outspoken attack on the world governing body after he was prevented from presenting the World Cup trophy.
The Indian High Commissioner, however, said he is not competent to answer questions related to cricket. "I represent neither BCCB nor BCB even ICC. You have to ask these questions either three bodies."
