Spurious ghee factory unearthed in Ctg

Chittagong, Nov 01: Acting on secret information, a mobile court led by Magistrate Munir Chowdhury launched a drive at the BSTI certified Kohinoor Ghee Factory at the city's Khulshi area and seized 5 tonnes of spurious Kohinoor brand ghee which has ingredients that is harmful for public health.
Confessing his guilt the owner of the factory disclosed that more than 200 tonnes of ghee and butter oil have been manufactured during last 3 years and the network of sales extended to Sylhet, Barisal and Khulna districts.
Both the manager and owner were arrested and awarded one year imprisonment each. The team also realised Tk 0.3 million as fine from them and prohibited sale of the adulterated ghee. The factory was later sealed by the mobile court.
