SQ Chy\\\'s appeal verdict Wednesday

The Appellate Division (AD) of the Supreme Court (SC) will pronounce judgment on an appeal, filed by war crimes convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, challenging his death sentence, on Wednesday. The four-member AD bench, headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, on Tuesday kept the matter on top of its cause list for "Announcement of Judgment" for tomorrow. The SC on July 7 set Wednesday to pronounce judgment on the appeal filed by the former Jatiya Party minister and ex-BNP MP from Chittagong’s Raojan. The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 handed down death penalty to Chowdhury as it found him guilty in nine charges out of the total 23 on October 1, 2013, according to a news agency.
