Square Pharma approves 40 pc cash, 25 pc stock dividend,export rises 59 per cent

Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has declared cash dividend at the rate of 40 per cent and stock dividend (Bonus Share) at the rate of 25 per cent for the shareholders for the year ended March 31, 2009.
The approval came at the company’s 43rd Annual General Meeting held at its Factory Premises at Kaliakoir Monday.
The company’s gross profit, net profit (Before Tax) and net profit (After Tax) for the year 2008-2009 were Tk. 4,148.23 million, Tk. 2,511.25 million and Tk. 1,890.05 million respectively.
Net Sales and Net Profit rises to 18.93 per cent and 36.78 per cent respectively during the year 2008-09.
During the year under review, the exports amounted to Tk. 336.34 million as against 212.50 million, a whopping 58.28 per cent increase.
The company contributed an amount of Tk. 2,319.62 million to the National Exchequer.
The AGM was presided over by the Chairman of the company Mr. Samson H. Chowdhury. Mr. Samuel S. Chowdhury, Vice Chairman; Mr. Tapan Chowdhury Managing Director; Mr. Anjan Chowdhury Director; Dr. Kazi Harunar Rashid, Director; Mr. M. Sekander Ali, Independent Director; Mr. Kazi lqbal Harun, Director; Mr. K. M. Saiful Islam, Director; Mr. Md. Kabir Reza, Director (A&F) and Mr. Khandaker Habibuzzaman, Company Secretary attended the meeting.
The Board of Directors appreciates the performance of the officers, staff and workers whose untiring efforts helped to optimize the profit of the Company. The Directors expressed their gratitude and acknowledged with keen interest the co-operation and unflinching support received from various agencies including Securities and Exchange Commission, Stock Exchanges, National Board of Revenue and other agencies of f he public and private sector.
Shareholders attended the AGM and many of them took part in the discussion regarding company's performance and future expansion. At the end Mr. Samson H. Chowdlhury, Chairman of the Company, expressed his deep appreciation to shareholders for their trust and support to the company's performance.
