Square Pharma approves 40pc cash, 35pc stock dividends

Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd has approved cash dividend at the rate of 40 per cent and stock dividend (bonus share) at the rate 35 per cent to its shareholders for the year ended March 31, 2008.
The approval came at its 42nd annual general meeting (AGM) of the country's largest pharmaceutical company held at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city Tuesday.
The AGM was presided over by the chairman of the company Samson H Chowdhury.
Directors Kazi Harunar Rashid, Samuel S Chowdhury, Anjan Chowdhury, Kazi lqbal Harun and KM Saiful Islam, Independent Director M Sekander Ali, Director (Accounts and Finance) Md Kabir Reza and Company Secretary Khandaker Habibuzzaman attended the meeting.
The gross profit, net profit (before tax) and net profit (after tax) for the year 2007-2008 were Tk 3,401.78 million, Tk 1,868.63 million and Tk 1,381.86 million respectively. Net sales and net profit rose to 10.09 per cent and 6.03 per cent respectively during the year 2007-08.
During the year under review, the exports amounted to Tk 212.50 million as against Tk 192.95 million of the previous year with a 10.13 per cent increase.
"As the company has secured licence under UK MHRA, it is expected that the export potential will increase substantially in the near future," the latest annual report said adding that the company has, for the first time, exported basic chemicals for over Tk 2 million during the year.
