Square Textiles declares 30pc cash, 15pc stock dividends

Square Textiles Limited approved 30 per cent cash dividend and 15 per cent stock dividend (bonus share) for its shareholders for the year that ended on December 31, 2006 at its 12th annual general meeting (AGM) at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city Thursday.
The AGM was presided over by Chairman of the company Samson H Chowdhury.
Directors of the company Kazi Harunar Rashid, Samuel S Chowdhury, Anjan Chowdhury, Charles CR Patra, Kazi lqbal Harun, Director (A&F) Md Kabir Reza, Independent Director M Sekander Ali and Company Secretary Khandaker Habibuzzaman were present, among others, on the occasion.
The gross profit, net profit (before tax) and net profit (after tax) in 2006 were Tk 580 million, Tk 404 million and Tk 349 million respectively which are 6.81 per cent, 1.5 per cent and 36.86 per cent higher than the previous year.
Net margin of the company rose to 13.31 per cent in 2006 from 10.69 per cent in 2005. The turnover increased by 9.61 per cent, while export revenue increased by 10.36 per cent during the year under review over 2005. The operating income rose at the rate of 4.69 per cent over the previous year.
The company contributed an amount of Tk 88.8 million to the National Exchequer which is 7.28 per cent higher than the previous year. The company contributed substantially to the Foreign Exchange Reserve of the country through its marketing operation during 2006. This amounted to Tk. 548.75 million.
A large number of shareholders were also present on the occasion.
