Sramik Dal gets permission for rally

Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, the associate workers’ body of BNP, on Wednesday finally got permission to hold its scheduled rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on Thursday to mark the May Day. “The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has given permission over phone for the May Day rally at Suhrawardy Udyan,” said BNP vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman. He was speaking at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office. Noman said though they have been given permission at the eleventh hour, they have completed their preparations for staging a massive gathering. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to address it as the chief guest. Meanwhile, a team of BNP leaders, led by Noman, visited the rally venue on Wednesday night, according to a news agency.
