Sramik Dal leader killed in Pabna

A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal was hacked to death over land dispute at Haidarpur village in Atgharia upazila on Thursday morning. The deceased was identified as Ripon Hossain, 30, vice-president of Sadar upazila Sramik Dal and son of Gani Sardar of the Poyda village of Sadar upazila. Sheikh Lenin Alamgir, officer-in-charge of Atgharia Police Station, said Ripon had a long standing dispute over a piece of land with a group of the village. On Thursday morning, a group of unknown miscreants attacked and hacked Ripon with sharp weapons when he went to visit the disputed land around 8am, leaving him critically injured. Ripon was rushed to Pabna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, according to UNB.
