Saturday, 22 February 2014

Sri Lanka was 103 for two wickets after 25 overs as they chased 241 for victory in their third and final ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday. Kusal Perera (50) and Dinesh Chandimal (22) were the men to lead the visitors’ fight-back. Earlier, winning the toss Sri Lanka invited Bangladesh to bat first, who posted a total of 240 runs at the cost of eight wickets. The Tigers lost their first wicket as opener Anamul Haque (2) edged Dhammika behind off the last delivery of the sixth over. Mominul Haque then came out and paired with Shamsur Rahman at first to aid the hosts with a 45-run partnership for the second wicket. After Shamsur was gone for 25, Mominul got skipper Mushfiqur Rahim to steady the ship with another 46 run partnership for the third wicket. Shamsur failed to hook a short delivery, letting the ball sail into the hands of Angelo Perera at deep square leg. Mominul Haque (60 off 60 deliveries) was the Tigers’ third casualty, sent back run out after a mix-up with Mushfiqur. Bangladesh are two-nil down in the three-match series, according to bdnews24.com.
