Saturday, 8 March 2014

Sri Lanka were 105 for two after 20 overs chasing 261 runs against Pakistan in the Asia Cup final on Saturday. Lahiru Thirimanne (37) and Mahela Jayawardena (26) were in the middle for Sri Lanka at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. A 56-run opening stand between Kushal Perera and Thirimanne built strong foundation for the Sri Lankan chase. Opener Kushal Perera (42 off 37) went back first when Saeed Ajmal duped the batsman for a stumping. In the very next ball, in-form Kumar Sangakkara (0) was trapped leg-before in front of the stumps, resulting a hat-trick chance for Ajmal which Mahela Jayawardena fended off, accordimng to a news agency.
