Sri Lanka U-19 beat Bangladesh U-19 by 14 runs

Visiting Sri Lanka Under-19 team made a comeback in the five-match one-day series 1-1 against Bangladesh Under-19 team as they beat the hosts by 14 runs in the second match at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra Friday, reports UNB.
Chasing a target of 166 set by the tourists, Marshall Ayub came up with a brisk 90 runs off 146 balls with four fours but that was not enough as Bangladesh U-19 were all out for 151 in 48.4 overs. Marshall was later adjudged man of the match.
Earlier, sent into bat first, Sri Lanka U-19 team were able to post a respectable 165 for all in 48.5 overs riding on two useful innings from opener R Thirimanna and R Silva after losing three quick wickets at 15.
Thirimmana contributed innings highest 47 runs off 106 balls with three fours while R Silva scored 42 runs and K Janith made 38.
Rubel Hossain and Mahmudul Hasan claimed three wickets each for 21 and 41 runs respectively.
In reply, the hosts faced a terrible batting collapse losing five top order batsmen for just 18 runs including opener Rony Talukder and number three Nasiruddin for ducks.
Apart from Marshall's knock, only three batsmen -- Rubel Hossain 20, Mahmudul Hasan 13 and Asraful Hossain 12 -- were able to reach double figures.
D Fernando and S Pathirana grabbed four wickets apiece for 20 and 25 runs respectively.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the hosts made a good start in the series beating Sri Lanka Under-19 side by 13 runs at the SCS.
The two youth teams will play the 3rd one-day match today (Saturday) at the SCS in Bogra, and the 4th on December 18 and the 5th match on December 20 at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium (NOS).
