SSC, equivalent exams begin

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Dakhil and SSC (Vocational) examinations under the country's 10 education boards began Wednesday morning, reports UNB.
A total of 1.42 million candidates - 0.74 million males and 0.68 million females - from 26,855 educational institutions sat for the exams that began at 2,464 centres at 10:00 am, officials said.
Of them, 0.11 million are SSC candidates, 0.28 million Dakhil and 91,158 are SSC (Vocational) candidates. The number of examinees increased by 0.11 million while that of schools by 558 and exam centres by 283 this year compared to the previous year.
The examinations under eight general education boards, one Madrasa Board and one Technical Board will end on March 4.
Under the Dhaka Education Board, 46 hearing-impaired candidates from Dhaka Deaf School are taking part in the exams for the first time this year. A total of 274 candidates are appearing at the exams at seven overseas centres under the Dhaka Board in Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Tripoli.
