SSC exams held peacefully in Rajshahi

RAJSHHAI UNIVERSITY, February 6: The first day of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations under Rajshahi Education Board and Madrasa Board passed peacefully in Rajshahi district on Friday amid the ongoing indefinite blockade enforced by BNP-led 20-Party Alliance.
After beginning of the exam at 9:00 am, Rajshahi-2 Lawmaker Fazle Hossain Badsha visited Rajshahi Collegiate School and PN Girls High School, and observed the overall security measures of the examination centres. He also talked to the authorities concerned, including centre secretaries and officials, over taking the exam safely.
Besides, commissioner of Rajshahi division Helaluddin Ahmed Chowdhury, additional district administrator S M Tuhinul Alam, acting chairman of Rajshahi Board Abul Kalam Azad, controller of examinations Shamsul Kalam Azad and other officials visited several exam centres in the metropolitan area.
Deputy commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan DB police Iftekhayer Alam informed that strict security measures have been taken across the district following the SSC and equivalent examinations.
A large number of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed in each centre to ensure security of the examinees.
On Friday, the SSC examinees sat for Bangla 1st paper, while the Dakhil students sat for Quran Mazid and Tazbid papers, and the technical education board students for Bangla-2 examinations in two shifts.
A total of 1,28,199 students, including 61,282 girls, are appearing at the SSC examination under Rajshahi Education Board this year. The number of schools is 2,591 and that of examination centres 214 in eight districts under the education board.
Prof Shamsul Kalam Azad said the board authority has taken all-out measures to ensure peaceful environment and prevent cheating at the examination centres. Friday's exams were held in a peaceful and copying-free environment.
Meanwhile, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has imposed ban on all sorts of procession, meeting, rally and agitation and carrying of explosives and firearms on 200 yards around all exam centres in the city.
