SSC results: Urban-centric success
Sunday, 18 May 2014
The results of Secondary school certificate (SSC) have been announced and more than 91 per cent students passed the examination. 142,276 candidates got GPA-5. Many educational institutions have got a success rate of 100 per cent which is really a big achievement and speaks volumes about the standard of those institutions.
This year the success rate is much higher compared to that in the last year. As usual, successes of urban students are far better than their counterparts in the rural areas. This goes to bring home the fact mere urban-centric education is not going to help us in the long run. We need to improve the standard of education in the rural areas. Neglecting the majority of the students studying in rural educational institutes will not bring desired prosperity in our country. To do so, we have to bring some creativity in our education system so that young pupils can learn to think independently and out of the box. We have to come out of the old and outdated education system and bring a gradual change in it. It is good to see that today students are more aware about the world around them as they have access to the world of information thanks to technology like the computer and the internet. However, in order to infuse true learning in their tender hearts, it is important that we think how best to promote their imaginative and creative faculty.
