Staff union strike continues at RMCH

An indefinite work abstention programme, called by Class IV Employees Union of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), protesting the attack on some of their fellows by microbus drivers and brokers, is going on Wednesday.
Sources at the RMCH said no untoward incident occurred there in the morning centring on the programme, according to a news agency.
On Tuesday, relatives of a patient who died at the hospital hired a microbus from outside to take the body to Dinajpur.
However, microbus drivers and brokers on the hospital premises barred the relatives, including union secretary Rezaul Karim Romel, from lifting the body into the vehicle, which led to a scuffle.
At one stage, a group of 10-15 microbus drivers, led by Shajahan Mia, attacked the hospital employees, leaving 10 people, including Rezaul, injured.
Three of the injured were admitted to the hospital.
