ICT sector stakeholders have submitted a set of recommendations to the interim government to make internet and information technology-enabled services easily accessible and affordable to the people.
The entrepreneurs, experts and rights activists urged the government to form an expert committee to determine how the different layers of the internet works, how a 'monopoly' in the sector could be eradicated and how the internet prices can be lowered.
They also urged the government to form a taskforce comprising telecom and ICT experts who will prepare a set of proposals, aimed at increasing the use of mobile internet and lowering the prices of internet within three months.
Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bdjobs.com AKM Fahim Mashroor, writer researcher Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, payment gateway expert Didarul Bhuyan, an entrepreneur Fida Haq and freelancer Hasin Haider prepared the recommendations and recently submitted to the ICT Adviser Nahid Islam during a meeting at his office last week.
Talking to the FE, Fahim Mashroor said the proposals aim to create an enabling environment in the country where meritorious youths can join the ICT related profession and entrepreneurship.
