Stalker sentenced in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Oct 9: A mobile court sentenced a stalker for one year jail in Akkelpur Upazila in the district on Sunday. He is identified as Jahurul Islam (26), son of Abdur Rahaman of village Matapur under the Upazila.
According to Akkelpur police and witnesses that Munira Aktar, a first year student of Jamalganj College was going to college from her house. A local youth named Jahurul began to tease her on the road. The student protested and called the locals. The local people caught the youth and brought him to college campus. Hearing the news Akkelpur thana police arrested him and produced him before a mobile court of ASM Rafikunnabi, Nirbahi Magistrate and UNO of Akkelpur. The court sentenced him to one year's jail.
Drug traders held
Akkelpur thana police arrested 5 drug traders from different areas under Akkelpur upazila in the district on Saturday night.
Akkelpur thana sources said, on a tip off police headed by SI Mahfuj raided the Jamalganj Bazar area, and Nababganj Bridge area and arrested drug trader Narayon bin Dadun (60), Narayon Urao (58), Abul Kalam Azad (52), drug traderFarid (42) and Razzak (52).
