StanChart, BD gets new CEO

Jim McCabe has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to Standard Chartered Bank in Bangladesh, the oldest and largest foreign bank in the country. He joins the Bangladesh team from Singapore, where he has been the Group Head of Operations for the global bank, says a press release.
Jim held a range of senior management positions within Standard Chartered group, in the Americas as well as Asia. He joined Standard Chartered Bank in December 2000 as the Risk Head for North East Asia, Wholesale Banking. He moved on to become the CEO of the Americas in 2002, based out of New York. He held the position of CEO, Standard Chartered Bank, Taiwan, between 2006 and 2008. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, he was the President of Bank of America in Mexico. Jim holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona, USA.
Upon his appointment, Jim McCabe said, "I am very happy to be appointed CEO for the bank in Bangladesh. This is an important market for the group, and we are proud of our presence here for over 100 years. I look forward to working in this exciting banking industry."
Jim McCabe is expected to take on the new responsibilities towards the end of October 2009, replacing Osman Morad as the top official in Bangladesh. Osman Morad, CEO for the last five years in Bangladesh, will take on the role of CEO for Standard Chartered Bank in Malaysia.
