StanChart celebrates 100th Int'l Women's Day

Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh observed the 100th International Women's Day in a big way through week-long programmes at all their offices.
The celebrations on March 8 started early, with the CEO Jim McCabe greeting all females in the bank were greeted with a bouquet and a thank you cards.
Throughout that week, from Jim McCabe, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh; while all female visitors visiting at any of the branches were also greeted with flowers.
On the day, there were a series of engagement activities for the staff at the Bank premises. A day long vaccination programme (Cervical Cancer) ran for female all staff & their family members with support from Glaxo K SmithKline.; the female staffs were also treated to a full fledged spa experience with makeover, foot & shoulder massages & henna services from Persona at the head office.
A guest speaker discussion session with successful entrepreneur Rokeya Afzal Rahman was also organised for staff, to learn and gain inspiration from her deliberations.
There was also an internally photo contest for children of SCB staff, Jim McCabe inaugurated an exclusive art exhibition called "Celebrating Womanhood," at the head office, jointly organised with Purple magazine to commemorate International Women's Day 2010. "At Standard Chartered Bangladesh, we would like to take the opportunity to salute women and their success in all professional, creative and social activities they are engaged in", said Jim McCabe.
Mr. Sandeep Mookharjea, Head of Human Resources, Standard Chartered Bank, delivered a presentation on women empowerment to over 50 girls at a leading school in Dhaka. Standard Chartered employees volunteered and spent some time with nearly 200 street children at Jaago Foundation in Rayer Bazaar. Standard Chartered Bangladesh sponsored a movie show for the Acid Survivors Foundation, 25 female acid victims enjoyed 'Priyotomeshu' - a Bengali movie focusing on obstacles faced by a rape victim on her road to success ; The bank also signed an agreement with Asian University for Women to provide internship opportunities for students at Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh.
