StanChart official due in Dhaka today

Kevin Bailey, Head of Audit - North East Asia and South Asia for Standard Chartered Bank, is due to arrive in Dhaka today (Sunday) for a day's official visit. He is scheduled to meet senior officials of the bank during his visit. Kevin is a Chartered Accountant. In 1994, he joined Standard Chartered Bank in London as Head of Audit Africa. Since then Kevin has undertaken many roles in Group Internal Audit including Head of Audit CB, Head of Audit Technology and Operations and Head of Audit Governance. Currently based in Singapore Kevin has previously spent time in Mumbai and Hong Kong. He got his bachelor's degree in commerce from Otago University (New Zealand). The 27th general meeting of 'Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh (CSBIB)' was held in the city Saturday. Prof. Dr Muhammad Mustafizur Rahman, Vice Chairman of CSBIB, presided over the meeting. The meeting was attended by Chairmen and Managing Directors of the member banks and also the Chairmen and Member Secretaries of the Shariah Councils of the relevant banks including Shah Abdul Hannan, EC Chairman of CSBIB, Kamaluddin Ahmed, Chairman of SIBL, and Md. Mukhlesur Rahman, Secretary General of the CSBIB. The meeting discussed different issues related with Shariah compliance of Islamic Banks in Bangladesh and approved Shariah principlesopinion for five issues. The meeting approved audit report, yearly budget and yearly work plan of the board. The meeting also approved the CSBIB membership of Bank Asia Limited and Islamic Finance and Investment Limited (IFIL). - Statement
