Stand beside distressed humanity: PM to physicians

Sunday, 4 May 2014

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the physicians to dedicate themselves to the welfare of the distressed humanity by standing beside them during their sickness
and grief like trusted friends. “The country and nation have much expectations to you. A little touch of your hand and sympathy could boost moral strength of the distressed humanity. So, it’s my expectations that you would stand beside them during their sickness and grief like trusted friends,” Sheikh Hasina said while addressing the 12th Convocation of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city on Sunday. State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque was present as the special guest, while BCPS President Professor SAM Golam Kibria delivered the convocation speech. Past BCPS President Professor Mahmud Hasan gave the welcome address and BCPS Vice-President Professor Mohammad Shahidullah delivered the vote of thanks. Professor Kanak Kanti Barua conducted the award and certificate distribution of the function. Earlier, the Prime Minister entered the venue by leading a convocation procession. She wore a convocation gown on the occasion. Sheikh Hasina handed over honourary fellows to six senior physicians, and gold medals to six young fellows and certificates to 20 other fellows who obtained FCPS and MCPS degrees, according to BSS.
