Standard Chartered takes flood response measures

In response to the devastating floods impacting northeastern and southeastern Bangladesh, Standard Chartered Bangladesh is delivering emergency relief to 100,000 flood-affected individuals.


The bank is providing relief packages containing provisions for meals over seven days, reaching impacted communities across flood-impacted areas, including Feni, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Cumilla, Hobiganj, Moulavibazar, Sylhet, Khagrachori, Chattogram, Brahmanbaria and Chandpur. The packages contain essential non-perishable foodstuff, saline, drinking water and water purification tablets. In the first phase of this initiative relief is being delivered in partnership with Bidyanondo Foundation, says the bank in a statement.
Naser Ezaz Bijoy, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bangladesh, said, "The floods in Bangladesh have been unexpected in its severity, and it has been truly inspiring to see our society as a whole come together and aid those in need. As a Bank that has been serving this nation for 119 years, it is our duty to support the distressed communities, standing shoulder to shoulder with the ongoing efforts.
