State help for children with autism

Thursday, 14 May 2015

The lives of autistic children are not easy in our country, not even in Dhaka where we have a few schools for them and they live like outcasts. The number of autistic children is rising, but awareness about autisms is not. The parents of autistic children often blame themselves for their children's condition. But they should not lose their heart. They must be patient and work diligently towards improvement of their children so that the children are able to cope with their surroundings better and grow up as a normal human beings. Autism is a mental condition characterised by great difficulty in communicating and building relations with others.
The schooling of the autistic children is expensive as they need special care and attention and therefore the middle class people can hardly afford proper education for their autistic children. It is difficult for the working parents to allot sufficient time to the children who are autistic, let alone paying attention to other considerations. It is also not possible for the parents to solve the problems of the autistic children all by themselves. The government, therefore has a big role to play here. A well-designed plan to bring the autistic children under a network should be formulated with recommendations from specialists in the field so that these children can become an asset for the society instead of being a burden.
