State-sponsored terrorism across country: BNP

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged on Friday that state-sponsored terrorism has spread across the country as the Prime Minister (PM) is defending the 'terrorist acts of her party men', reports UNB.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is encouraging state-sponsored terrorism by defending the terrorist activities of her party men," he told a discussion at the National Press Club.
He said BNP does not believe in terrorism and the party is not involved in any terrorist activities either. "People know who are involved in terrorism," he said.
Fakhrul said the BNP's decision of boycotting the January 5 polls was right as it has been proved that no fair election is possible under the Awami League government.
bdnews24.com adds:  "Opposition activists are being killed every day. The state machinery is being used to kill people," Fakhrul told the discussion.
"By terming these incidents in Parliament as self-defence measures, the Prime Minister is encouraging extrajudicial killings," he alleged.
Fakhrul recalled several incidents, which he claimed, were extrajudicial killings.
"Yesterday (Thursday) the body of a BNP activist was found in Sirajganj. Police had picked him up from in front of the High Court in Dhaka.
"Several days ago RAB picked up a Lakshmipur BNP leader. He was killed, too," Fakhrul claimed.
"The law enforcers also killed three men who were arrested for the attack on Asaduzzaman Nur's motorcade," he said.
Fakhrul demanded 'participatory elections' under a non-party government to resolve the political crisis.
