Steady progress of rice procurement in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, June 26: Government procurement of rice and paddy is progressing steadily in Nilphamari district.
Sources said this year's target of rice procurement in the district in the Boro season session has been fixed at 27000 tonnes. So far district food officials contracted 13290 metric tonnes of rice to be supplied by 324 rice mill owners under seven local supply depots (LSD) across the district and out of this they have already procured 10850 tonnes of rice. The sources added another 893 tonnes of paddy have also been procured directly from the growers.
Rice and paddy procurement that began in the month of April continue until August 31. The sources further said procurement price of rice has been fixed by the government at Tk.2800 per quintal of rice and Tk. 1800 per quintal of paddy.
