Step taken to collect info on millionaires not paying taxes: Muhith

Step has been taken to collect information of the millionaires who do not pay taxes, Finance Minister AMA Muhith told the Parliament on Tuesday replying to a tabled starred question of Chhabi Biswas (Netrakona-1). He said that till May 2014 some 978,627 individuals submitted their income tax return after paying their taxes. Replying to another tabled starred question of M Abdul Wadud (Rajshahi-5), the Finance Minister said that till May of the current fiscal, the quantity of gold recovered from different airports was 711 kilogram while it was only 38.48 kilogram in 2012-13 fiscal. Responding to Haji M Selim (Independent-Dhaka), he said that since 2009-10 fiscal, the government has paid US $ 4951 million (Tk 38,618 crore) as foreign loan payment. Of the total amount, US$ 3971 million was for payment against principal amount while US$ 980 million against interest on loans, according to UNB.
