Step to transplant Boro seedlings through machine in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Feb, 07 (BSS): Gobindaganj Upazila Agriculture Office has taken up a step to produce the seedlings of Boro paddy in the trays to transplant it through Rice Trans-planter Machine.
This method is called 'Synchronized Boro paddy farming' or Dry direct seeded Boro Rice Production Technology that aims at reducing the production cost of Boro cultivation, saving labour cost and time, said an official of the agriculture office.
Terming it a new method that reduces the amount of water used by around 50%", he said adding that this method was innovated by the scientists of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute.
Md. Khaledur Rahman, Upazila agriculture officer told the the news agency that primarily they would farm the Boro paddy on 15 bighas of land of the upazila this year in this method to motivate and inspire the enthusiastic farmers.
To this end, a demonstration plot on the production of Boro seedlings in the trays had been set up at Singha Danga village under Taluk-Kanupur Union of the upazila during the current season.
If the farmers are happy and satisfied after getting desired output against the crop, this technology would be expanded to the farmers' level in the upazila in coming seasons, he also said.
