Steps for 'food output boost undertaken'

Land Minister Rezaul Karim Hira said the government has taken various programmes for boosting food production in the country, reports BSS.
He was speaking at a training programme on 'Soya bean Cultivation with Modern Technology' in the training room of Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) in Jamalpur Saturday.
The land minister said the government is distributing loan at low interest rate among the farmers for increasing oil seed production.
Chaired by Dr Md Ahsanul Haq, director of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute, the function was addressed, among others, by Kamol Krishna Bhattacharjya, deputy commissioner, and Dr Md Abdul Based, chief scientific officer of RARS.
A total of 55 soya bean farmers of the district took part in the daylong training programme.
Earlier, the minister inaugurated the annual sports of Hazrat Shah Jamal ® High School at Pathalia in the town.
