The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology Ministry Wednesday suggested the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) to take steps so that safe food can be made available for people.
It also asked the BCSIR to innovate techniques through research for the safe preservation of foods, according to a news agency.
The committee made the suggestions in its second meeting held at the Parliament Secretariat with its chairman AFM Ruhal Haque in the chair.
At the meeting, a multi-media presentation was made about BCSIR’s activities, especially its research and development programmes.
The parliamentary watchdog recommended the ministry to reach the advantages of the BCSIR’s innovations to the doorsteps of common people.
Besides, it suggested the Science and Technology Ministry and the Education Ministry to sit in a meeting for arranging a larger number of science fairs in various parts of the country with a view to creating science-oriented students.
