Steps needed to help the primary level students

Thursday, 6 August 2009

The government is going to introduce a public examination, instead of scholarship examination, for grade five students this year, like that of Secondary School Certificate (SSC). Undoubtedly, it will help to promote quality education at the primary level.
Quality teachers are also essential for quality education. Women graduates, thus should be recruited as teachers, in lieu of SSC-passed women. This will be befitting the spirit of the age. Moreover, every student will get tiffin as it helps students continue attending. But only tiffin cannot keep students in the classes; rather, properly trained and motivated teachers should help the students.
We are shocked to see the tender-hearted kids studying in various coaching centres for admission to grade one in their parents' desired school. Actually in the coaching centres they are memorising a lot. This is beyond their ability; it ultimately destroys their potential. Admission-seekers to grade one can find sample questions and answers in most of the newspapers. But the schools can be chosen for the students through lottery.
We would, therefore, like to request the authorities concerned to take steps for closure of all coaching centres immediately and to select students in grade one for schools through lottery.
