Steps taken against KCC engineers

The executive engineer of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) M Abdul Aziz has been suspended, while its chief engineer Leyaqat Ali Sharif has been served with a show-cause notice for embezzlement of Tk 5.0 million from the KCC's transport fund. According to the sources, KCC suffered a loss of Tk 4.3 million, as the two officials purchased a defective vehicle for the corporation, showing it a new one in official documents. They said, KCC had to give Tk 0.2 million to BRTA in fine, as it failed to renew the fitness certificates of its two vehicles. —UNB
