Steps taken for growth of ICT, PM tells JS

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina told the house Wednesday that steps have been taken including formulating National Information Technology Policy-2010 and setting up a hi-tech park to build a science and technology-based prosperous Bangladesh.
Replying to a question raised by Treasury Bench member Nasimul Alam Chowdhury during the Prime Minister's Question-Answer session, the PM said Information and Communication Technology Regulations-2010 has been formulated to ensure smooth growth of information and communication technology (ICT) in the country, reports BSS.
Besides, steps have been taken to set up a high-tech park on 232 acres in Kaliakoir under Gazipur district to encourage foreign investment to the very vital sector.
The PM said her government has made an allocation of Tk 1.0 billion in revenue budget in the current fiscal to the ministry of Science and ICT aiming at building a "Digital Bangladesh" by 2021 as envisaged by the government.
