Steps taken to promote surfing

Bangladesh Surfing Association (BSA) has taken various steps to promote the surfing, the newly introduced sports event, for promising future in the country, reports BSS.
The BSA will launch a training programme  at the Laboni sea beach in the tourist hub of Cox's Bazar to introduce this kind of  sports to the local surfers.
A 23-member surfers training team led by Jack Hari Traiton "Surfing The Nations" from the United State of America, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Sweden and Switzerland from across the glove have already reached the city to train the local budding surfers. Addressing a press conference Saturday at the Bangladesh Olympic Association conference room BSA President Iqbal Bin Anwar said they have taken challenge to promote surfing.
He also said although the game is new in the country but they have already received invitation from various countries to take part in the competition.
The surfer training team will visit Bangladesh each year to practise in Cox's Bazar for twenty days and train the local surfers.
After the training the BSA has plans to host the first National Surfing Competition on April 25 at the Cox's Bazar sea beach. BRAC Chicken will be the title sponsor of the competition. Earlier, Bangladesh surfer Aziz won silver medal in the South Asian Beach Games held in Sri Lanka in 2012.
