Steps to attract women entrepreneurs to bourses stressed

CHITTAGONG, Feb 4: Speakers at a workshop here put emphasis on the need for greater participation of women in the share market and said that steps should be taken to attract greater number of the women to the stock market.
Chittagong Stock Exchange and Chittagong Capital Market, a sister concern of the GPH Group, jointly organised the workshop titled 'Investment in Security Market for Women Entrepreneurs' at the USTC (University of Science and Technology) auditorium Wednesday.
Speakers also said that as one of the most flourishing sectors of the country, the capital market has doubled in size over the last two years.
Daily transactions have also increased with the inflow of a large amount of investment in the two bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange.
When the country is facing acute fund crisis in the industrial sector the capital market has been able to attract a large number of investors, and such a trend that can boost up overall economy of the country.
Monowara Hakim Ali, president of Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, addressed the workshop as the chief guest.
The workshop was also addressed by Prof Saleh Zahur of Chittagong University, former CEO of Chittagong Stock Exchange, Sonia Hussain, AGM (legal affairs) of the CSE, and Md Jahangir Alam, chairman of the GPH Group and MD of Chittagong Capital Ltd.
